Manufacturing company Laticrete (Bethany, Connecticut) has revamped the formula for its Drytek Skimcoat, a fast-drying underlayment.

The company says that the new formula provides an extended pot life, and can now hold more water, allowing for a creamier consistency, smoother application and better finish.

The product also comes in a new tin tie re-sealable bag, which aims to reduce waste and increase cost savings, the company says.

“When reformulating Drytek Skimcoat, we improved its rapid-setting properties and ease of use to make it an ideal solution for today’s schedule- and budget-driven project without sacrificing quality,” said product manager Christopher Brana.

The low-VOC product is suitable for substrates such as concrete, vinyl tile, cement terrazzo, exterior glue plywood, ceramic tile and stone, cement mortar bed and non-cushioned sheet vinyl, according to the product description.

The product can be applied from skim depth to 1 inch, and the finished flooring can be installed 20 minutes after application.
