Water Works Expo Kicks Off Sunday

The American Water Works Association opens its 2017 Annual Conference & Exposition (known as ACE17) Sunday (June 11) in Philadelphia.

ACE17 features a number of sessions, workshops and poster sessions geared toward the professionals who build and maintain water infrastructure.

ACE17, which focuses on various aspects of water infrastructure, including drinking water, water reuse, wastewater and stormwater, continues through Wednesday (June 11), and features technical sessions, keynotes and an exhibit hall, open Monday through Wednesday.

Technical Sessions

The ACE17 technical program includes a number of sessions geared toward the professionals who build and maintain water infrastructure. Sessions include:

  • Elements of an Asset Management Plan, 2-5 p.m., Monday;
  • Creative Techniques for Large Complex Water Infrastructure Projects, 2-5 p.m., Monday;
  • University Forum: Part 1, 2-5 p.m., Monday, including the presentation “Field and Lab Evaluation of a New Polyurea Lining System for Water Main Renovation”;
  • Advanced Leak Detection, 2-5 p.m., Monday;
  • They Ain’t so Old After All—Rehabilitation of Aging Infrastructure Facilities for Long Term Viability, 8:30-11:30 a.m., Tuesday;
  • Recent Advancements in Pipeline Condition Assessment, 1:30-4:30 p.m., Tuesday;
  • Design Build for the Future, 2-5 p.m., Wednesday; and
  • Tools for Understanding Corrosion Control Effectiveness, 2-3 p.m., Wednesday.

Elsewhere, Sunday’s workshop Managing Water Main Distribution Systems: From Condition Assessments to Rehabilitation Methods, Economics of Failure and Long-Term Planning, will include discussion of the rehabilitation of failing pipes, including cured-in-place linings.

And Monday’s poster session, from 2-5 p.m., deals with management, distribution systems and construction.
