Coatings firm Valentus Specialty Chemicals (North Brunswick, New Jersey) has introduced its VSC Advanced Protective Coating System, which uses a polyester-resin topcoat and epoxy primer to guard steel, concrete and aluminum substrates.

The VSC system consists of the VSC 1200 Topcoat—a polyurethane based on Eastman’s Tetrashield polyester protective resin—and the VSC 1100 primer, an epoxy that was developed in conjunction with the topcoat.

Valentus' VSC Advanced Protective Coating System uses a polyester-resin topcoat and epoxy primer to guard steel, concrete and aluminum substrates.

According to Valentus, the VSC Topcoat offers significant weathering and adhesion performance, with a longer pot life and shorter dry time than many other common topcoats.

The VSC coating is dry to touch in about 200 minutes at room temperature, the company says. Over a four-hour period, the coating shows “very little viscosity increase,” according to Valentus.

Both coatings are two-component products, and utilize high-solids formulations that Valentus says help to limit VOCs.
