The Sherwin-Williams Company is accepting submissions for its annual Sherwin-Williams Impact Award, honoring contractors, specifiers and owners on notable water and wastewater projects undertaken recently in North America.

The Impact Award, now in its second year, honors projects that “demonstrate a long-lasting impact on the industry,” the company says. Projects that are eligible include any water-related structure built, restored or rehabilitated with the help of Sherwin-Williams coatings. Projects must have been completed during the 2016 calendar year to be eligible for this year’s award.

The Impact Award honors a notable project related to water or wastewater structures.

“The Sherwin-Williams Impact Award recognizes the most challenging water and wastewater projects of the year, highlighting how the parties involved used high-performance protective coatings to overcome various obstacles and deliver a long-term solution to asset protection,” said Kevin Morris, water and wastewater market director for Sherwin-Williams Protective and Marine Coatings. “Award-winning projects demonstrate project excellence, as well as a positive community impact related to enhancing public safety, asset protection, and infrastructure life.”

Criteria, Judges

Award entries, the company says, will be rated on the difficulty of the submitted project, challenges the participants overcame, solutions provided to the owner, satisfaction of the outcome, and overall uniqueness of the scope and story for the project.

A panel of industry experts will review submissions, Sherwin-Williams says, first narrowing the field to 12 entries then choosing a winner, runner-up and honorable mention.

Projects honored last year included the rehabilitation of an anaerobic digester in Austin, Minnesota, which won top marks, and three other water tank projects, which took runner-up and honorable-mention awards.

The award will be presented at the WEFTEC Conference, held Sept. 30-Oct. 4 in Chicago. Submissions will be accepted through June 15.
