A new primer from PPG (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) is designed for use on heavy-duty equipment and transportation applications.

Spectracron AdvantEdge HPP is a polyurethane primer designed for use on heavy equipment, transportation and other applications.

Spectracron AdvantEdge HPP is a polyurethane primer that the coating manufacturer says provides extended corrosion protection and chip resistance. It also is recommended for use on sharp, laser-cut edges, PPG notes.

Patented Resin

The primer is formulated with proprietary resin and anticorrosion pigments, the company says, and contains no heavy metals, which PPG says makes it a more sustainable solution for corrosion protection in comparison with more traditional polyurethane or epoxy primers.

The company also says Spectracron AdvantEdge is compatible with common hardeners and offers shorter wet-on-wet application time as well as a wide application window.

The new product supplements PPG’s line of Spectracron solvent-borne topcoats, which include alkyd, polyurethane and epoxy enamels.
