Working under the premise that a smaller device can be more practical for some surface preparation jobs, Minneapolis-based Graco has unveiled the latest product in its line of vapor abrasive blast equipment.

The EcoQuip 2 EQ features a portable cart with lift handles, weighs 220 pounds empty, and retails for $11,000. Its design allows work crews to complete smaller jobs without the time-consuming process of transporting a larger unit to a worksite.

Graco says the EcoQuip 2 EQ has many uses, including steel and concrete surface preparation; graffiti removal; paint and stain removal; wood, concrete and steel cleaning; brick and patio cleaning; iron fence and railing preparation; and stone and stucco stain removal.

“Our EQp is a unique offering in the market because it is as powerful and easy to use as the larger EcoQuip models, but at a more affordable price for smaller scale jobs,” says Eric Rennerfeldt, product manager for Graco's EcoQuip line. “Contractors and restorers can now complete their blasting jobs quickly and effectively without blowing the budget.”

Additional Benefits

Graco notes its vapor abrasive blast equipment reduces dust by up to 92 percent compared with traditional dry blasting. The device uses a small amount of water, the company says, ensuring containment and making debris cleanup less messy than power washers.

Blast times last 30 to 60 minutes between refills, which Graco says gives users ample time to complete a job without delay. The machine boasts fast removal rates compared to pressure washing, according to the company; blast pressures have been measured up to 150 psi.

Multiple uses

The company says the new device has many uses, including steel and concrete surface preparation; graffiti removal; paint and stain removal; wood, concrete and steel cleaning; brick and patio cleaning; iron fence and railing preparation; and stone and stucco stain removal.
