FL City Seeks Bids for Double Tank Rehab

The City of Ormond Beach is seeking contractors for the rehabilitation of two existing water tanks located in Ormond Beach, Florida.

A pre-bid meeting will be held April 5. Bids are due April 19.

Scope of Work

The project involves cleaning and recoating of the existing 250,000-gallon water treatment plant elevated water tank and the 400,000 gallon Breakaway Trails elevated reclaimed water tank.

The City of Ormond Beach, Florida, is seeking contractors for the rehabilitation of two existing water tanks.

All exterior surfaces will be abrasive blast-cleaned to Commercial standards (SSPC-SP 6). Areas with excessive corrosion will also receive Power Tool Cleaning (SSPC-SP 3). Interior tank surfaces will be cleaned to Near-White standards (SSPC-SP 10) before coating application.

Exterior surfaces will receive a hydro-zinc primer with a high-build acrylic polyurethane intermediate and finish coat. Tank interior surface will require a hydro-zinc primer with a high-build epoxy intermediate and finish coat. The project also includes logo application for each tank’s exterior.

The owner-approved manufacturers include Tnemec, Carboline, Sherwin-Williams, Induron and Sika.

An estimated quantity of 13,100 square feet of lead-based paint is present on the water treatment plant water tank’s exterior and will require removal. An additional estimated quantity of 32,500 square feet of exterior lead-based paint removal is also required for the Breakaway Trails tank. Containment in accordance with SSPC Guide 6 is required for both tanks.
