Century Industrial Coatings is known for its products for steel, oil and gas, rail cars and other OEM applications.

Jacksonville, Texas-based Century is known for products including CenturyGuard water-based primers, Century Extreme epoxy and polyurethane coatings, and its Century EcoExtreme line, designed for its low VOC content.

About Century

Century, which has been under the same ownership since its founding in 1966, produces coil coatings; high-performance coatings for concrete floors and harsh environments; coatings for steel joists; fillers and topcoats for particleboard and MDF; coatings for steel doors; storage tank coatings; and wood coatings. Century provides coatings for customers in North and South America.

Century was honored in 2012 with a Texas Environmental Excellence Award for its development of a low-VOC water-based joist primer.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

About Axalta

Axalta employs more than 12,800 workers and does business in more than 130 countries. The firm reported net sales of $4.1 billion in 2015. Axalta manufactures liquid and powder coatings for industrial, OEM and architectural applications.

Editor's note: An earlier version of this story reported that Century products are only available in the United States; the company in fact also does business elsewhere in North and South America.

Hmmmmm, interesting. First they sell off the industrial side of Dupont, now they go and buy a company they were trying to purchase before, and in fact had Century making certain coatings for them while still under the "DuPont" umbrella. Just saying seems a little backwards to me
