RPM Acquires Infrastructure Chemicals Firm

RPM International Inc. (Medina, Ohio), parent company of a number of coatings firms, has acquired Conyers, Georgia-based Prime Resins Inc., according to an announcement made Tuesday (Jan. 17).

Prime Resins, with annual sales of approximately $7 million, is a manufacturer of polyurethane and epoxy grouts, foam, adhesives and coatings that find use in leak sealing, concrete structural repair, slab lifting and soil stabilization.

Prime Resins’ products are most commonly used in highway, road, bridge, airport, sewage system and retaining wall applications. The company will become part of RPM’s USL Group, which includes products for road and infrastructure applications, and is headquartered in the U.K.

RPM says that Prime Resins will continue to be led by company founder and president David Barton, and RPM expects the deal to be accretive to earnings within a year.

"We intend to drive its top-line growth by leveraging the Prime Resins sales force to bring more of USL's differentiated product technologies to the U.S. infrastructure market,” said RPM chairman and CEO Frank C. Sullivan. “At the same time, we will improve its bottom line through access to RPM's raw materials purchasing network."

RPM’s industrial companies include Tremco, Carboline and Flowcrete.
