Thursday, October 13, 2016

Comment | More

A number of factors, ranging from coating selection to outside influences, can contribute to a coating failure.

The next free webinar from JPCL and SSPC presents a scientific approach to the analysis and prevention of common paint and coating failures on industrial structures.

Join Sarah Olthof as she presents “An Investigation of How Good Specifications Prevent Coating Failures” from 11 a.m. to noon ET (8 a.m. to 9 a.m. PT), Wednesday, Oct. 19.

Olthof will take a close look at the structure, composition and properties of polymers used in the formulation of modern paints and coatings, before sharing a systematic consideration of failures induced by weather, corrosion, mechanical and chemical influence, light, heat, and other agents.

Voice of Experience

As laboratory manager of Corrosion Control Consultants and Labs Inc. (CCC&L), Olthof is responsible for the daily operations of CCC&L, which includes supervision of the laboratory Quality Management System (QMS), new method implementation and employee management.

Olthof oversees coatings testing projects using many published test methods and specifications as well as custom testing programs.

She is an active member of NACE International, SSPC: The Society for Protective Coatings, ASTM and the Research Council for Structural Connections (Bolt Council).

In addition to authoring or co-authoring papers on coatings testing for both NACE and SSPC, Olthof actively participates on the ASTM D01-46 committee for development of standards for the coatings industry.

Webinar Education Series

The webinar is part of the 2016 JPCL/SSPC Webinar Education Series, which provides continuing education for SSPC recertifications and technology updates on important topics.

Numerous free webcasts in the JPCL/SSPC Education Series, covering a wide range of topics, are now available at https://www.paintsquare.com/webinars.
