Anti-corrosion coatings and lubricants provider A-76 Technologies Inc. announced it has changed its name to Aidant Brands. As part of the rebranding initiative, its A-76 line of preservation coatings will know be identified as the Rust Patrol line.

The rebranding strategy was part of an effort to better speak to its customers, both in the industrial and household space, as well as to plan for future expansion, the Houston-based company said in a statement Wednesday (Aug. 17).

"This name change better reflects the current and future direction of the company," said Lauren Thompson Miller, CEO and Co-Founder, "We're excited about the 'Rust Patrol' name and being more directly associated with rust prevention.

Houston-based Aidant Brands, formerly A-76 Technologies Inc., announced its new name and rebranded Rust Patrol product line, saying the new identity "better reflects the current and future direction of the company."

"We are also excited about the transition to 'Aidant Brands,'" continued Miller, "'Aidant' is an old word meaning 'helpful' and that is our goal. We strive to be a solution provider to our customers."

Aidant Brands launched in 2014 under the A-76 Technologies name after winning second place at the Rice Business Plan Competition with their technology of the same name. The technology was developed by Rice University professor Dr. James Tour.

Since 2014, the company and its team have been named to Bloomberg's list of "9 Hot B-School Start-Ups from Competition Season," Forbes' "30 Under 30" list, and the Houston Chronicle's "Start-Ups to Watch."

Product Launch

In addition to launching its new identity, Aidant Brands announced a new product in the Rust Patrol line.

The current line includes Rust Patrol (formerly A-76 Super) and Rust Patrol: No VOCs (formerly A-76 Green).

The new addition to the line, Rust Patrol: Incorrustible, is described as a high-performance anti-corrosion coating and lubricant.

A variation of the Rust Patrol product, Aidant says it offers longer lasting rust prevention capabilities, protecting equipment in storage for up to two years in harsh conditions, especially those with high humidity and high salinity environments.

The product is available in a 12-ounce can, but larger quantities are also available, including 5-gallon cans, 55-gallon drums, and 275-gallon totes, through industrial distributors.

It will be available to ship after Oct. 15.
