A new series of linings has just been launched for the power generation and oil and gas markets, says protective coatings supplier Hempel (Copenhagen).

The Hempaline Defend Vinyl Ester linings range was designed specifically for tough industrial applications such as tanks, stacks, ductwork, flue gas desulphurization units and secondary containment areas, the company says.

Hempaline linings

Hempel says its Hempaline Defend Vinyl Ester linings range was designed for applications where heavy-duty performance is critical to reducing corrosion and maximizing production uptime.

Developed for uses where heavy-duty performance is critical to reducing corrosion and maximizing production uptime, this new linings series enables Hempel to offer customers a full range of products for internal and external protection, it adds.

Strengthened with an epoxy backbone, the linings are said to be highly resistant to water penetration, delamination, extreme temperatures and humidity.

They may be applied to steel as well as concrete, the manufacturer notes.

Industry Applications

When used for the power generation industry, the manufacturer recommends the products be applied to protect the internal surfaces of flue gas desulphurization units, ductwork and stacks in wet and dry environments.

In both the power generation and the oil and gas industries, the range can be used as tank linings, as well as to protect concrete surfaces, such as secondary containment structures, from aggressive cargos, Hempel adds.

The product range includes glass and mineral-flake filled coatings and fiberglass-reinforced linings for specific applications, the company says. They can be used as one- or two-coat systems, depending on service requirements, it adds.

Currently, Hempaline linings are only available in select regions.
