Does your coatings work involve bolted connections on structural steel? Do you know how to handle them?

In the next free webinar from JPCL and SSPC, “The Confusion Surrounding the Painting of Bolted Connections – What Should and Shouldn’t be Done,” KTA-Tator’s Kenneth A. Trimber will explore a variety of considerations and questions associated with painting the connections of structural steel joints.

The webinar takes place from 11 a.m. till noon ET Wednesday (June 1). Participants may register here free.

The Confusion Surrounding the Painting of Bolted Connections – What Should and Shouldn’t be Done” considers a range of issues associated with the painting of bolted connections.

Some of the issues Trimber will address are:

  • Should bolt holes be painted?
  • How are galvanized or black fasteners prepared for painting in the field, and what coatings should be applied?
  • What restrictions are associated with the use of coatings in slip-critical joints?

Presenter Experience

President of KTA-Tator Inc., Trimber has more than 40 years of experience in the industrial painting field. He holds a bachelor's degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and is both a NACE Certified Coatings Inspector and an SSPC Protective Coatings Specialist.

Trimber is a past president of SSPC, is a current member of the Standards Review Committee, and is chairman of the SSPC Commercial Coatings Committee, SSPC Surface Preparation Committee, and the SSPC Containment Task Group.

He is a past chairman of ASTM D1 on Paints and Related Coatings, Materials, and Applications, and author of The Industrial Lead Paint Removal Handbook.
