The role of arc-sprayed coatings in marine settings is the focus of the next free webinar from JPCL and SSPC.

Thermion's Dean Hooks will address these applications in "Thermal Spray Solutions for the Marine Industry," from 11 a.m. to noon ET Wednesday, May 18.

"Thermal Spray Solutions for the Marine Industry" explores the corrosion protection thermal-sprayed coatings can provide in hostile marine environments.

Webinar participants will be eligible to receive continuing education credits from SSPC.

Participants may register here free.

What You Will Learn

Thermal spray coatings (TSCs) are used extensively for the corrosion protection of steel and iron in a wide range of environments.

This webinar will discuss the effectiveness of arc-sprayed aluminum and zinc coatings over long periods of time in a wide range of marine hostile environments.

TSCs are said to provide corrosion protection for more than 20 years to first maintenance for marine environments.

Presenter Experience

Hooks is Thermion's vice president of marketing and sales. In the 15 years he has worked at the company, he has held many roles ranging from constructing and repairing equipment, to consulting on projects, to working closely on large-scale national and global metalizing projects.

He is an SSPC thermal spray trainer and a member of NACE.

Webinar Education Series

The webinar is part of the 2016 JPCL/SSPC Webinar Education Series, which provides continuing education for SSPC recertifications and technology updates on important topics.

SSPC is an accredited training provider for the Florida Board of Professional Engineers (FBPE), and Professional Engineers in Florida may submit SSPC Webinar Continuing Education Units to the board.

To do so, applicants must download the FBPE CEU form and pass the Webinar Exam, which costs $25.

Thermion's efforts to promote Zinc and Al thermal spray is an example that all the metallisators and other fabricators of thermal spray equipment have to follow , for the benefit of the community which can save a lot of money preventing rust of the steel structures
