Liquid and powder coatings manufacturer Axalta Coating Systems has announced the global launch of its Alesta Anti-Graffiti powder coatings product line, following what the company describes as a successful introduction of anti-graffiti powder coating throughout Europe.

“Graffiti is a global problem not only because it is unattractive but also because the cleanup poses financial burdens on property owners,” explains Michael Cash, president of Industrial Coatings at Axalta.

Axalta says its new anti-graffiti powder coatings were designed not only to protect against graffiti but also to reduce the time, effort and costs associated with repairing the damage caused by the vandalism.

“Underlying paintwork is often damaged or destroyed by the cleaning process, incurring costs in manpower and repainting that can be needed to return the surface to its original appearance,” he adds.

As a result, the company says its Alesta Anti-Graffiti powder coatings were designed not only to protect against graffiti but also to reduce the time, effort and costs associated with repairing the damage caused by the vandalism.

The coatings line is recommended for use on sound barriers along motorways and railway lines, marker boards, lockers, restrooms, information signs, indoor and outdoor recreation equipment, community facilities and transportation terminals, the company explains.

Its abrasion-resistant properties make it suitable as an anti-graffiti coating for metallic surfaces, the company claims. It also offers durability as a result of its chemical resistance and UV weathering properties, as well as its film hardness.

Pure polyester Alesta powder coatings meet the requirements of GSB International, Qualicoat and the American Architectural Manufacturers Association, the company notes. The products are also said to be compatible with the typical polyester composites and additional coatings of the same product can be applied.

They are available in all RAL and NCS color system shades, including metallic.
