Meter Made to Detect Concrete Moisture

TQC has introduced a concrete moisture reader that the company says is designed to test large concrete floors and construction that require coating.

The TQC Concrete Moisture Meter is non-destructive and can be used as an accurate measuring device for a substrate or just to detect traces of moisture or leakage, the company says.

Pressing the meter against a concrete surface allows the device to measure the electrical impedance of the moisture content of concrete. The electrical impedance is measured by generating a low frequency electric field between 8 electrodes at the bottom of the instrument, according to TQC.

The TQC Concrete Moisture Meter is non-destructive and can be used as an accurate measuring device for a substrate or just to detect traces of moisture or leakage, the company says.

Depending on the moisture content, the measurements are made to a depth of several centimeters. However, the system is not suitable to measure through electrically conductive materials such as metal or rubber linings, or wet surfaces, the company says.

In addition to testing concrete substrates before painting, the meter can be used to test for moisture before wooden floors are installed.

The meter has an operating temperature range of 5 degrees Celsius to 40 degrees Celsius and has an accuracy of accuracy of ±0.5%, according to TQC.
