One of the world’s top paint and coatings companies has hired a new chief financial officer to fill the vacancy left by the departing incumbent.

Hempel A/S announced Tuesday (Dec. 8) that Anders Boyer-Søgaard has been tapped to succeed Kim Junge Andersen as CFO.

Boyer-Søgaard, who is currently CFO and a member of Executive Management for GN Store Nord A/S, will join Hempel no later than June 1, 2016.

Anders Boyer-Søgaard will take over as Hempel CFO, succeeding Kim Junge Andersen by June 1.

Kim Junge Andersen will step down as CFO Jan. 1, when he transitions to serve as CFO for Rockwool International A/S.

Financial Leadership

Boyer-Søgaard comes to Hempel after eight years with GN Store Nord, a manufacturer of hearing aids and hands-free communications equipment.

He began his career with A.P. Moller in 1990 and worked in financial management roles in Copenhagen and Singapore.

He moved on to join Aston Business Solutions as CFO in 2000, and later served as regional director with ISS, one of the world's largest providers of facility services, before joining GN in 2007.

While at GN, in partnership with the board of directors, Boyer-Søgaard was instrumental in the dramatic turnaround of the company’s two business units: GN Netcom and GN ReSound.

As GN’s CFO, he was responsible for making a significant positive impact on the company’s business model, cost base and working capital, which drove an exponential growth in its market cap and helped it reenter the C20 index in 2010. (The OMXC20 index portfolio consists of the 20 most traded shares of the 25 largest shares in terms of free floated market capitalization listed on Nasdaq Copenhagen.)

“I am proud of the transformation I have been part of at GN Store Nord, and regard my years at GN as some of the toughest but also most rewarding of my career,” Boyer-Søgaard said.

“The transformation in GN has now been successfully completed and I look forward to be part of Hempel’s ambitious growth journey.”

Boyer-Søgaard holds a master’s degree in economics and accounting from the Copenhagen Business School.

Times of Change

“We are delighted that we have been able to attract another high-level C20 executive who, together with our new CEO Henrik Andersen and our COO Lars Petersson, will form a new strong leadership team to take Hempel to the next level of growth and profitability,” Richard Sand, Hempel’s chairman of the board, said.

Henrik Andersen was named as Hempel's new CEO earlier this year; he will succeed Pierre-Yves Jullien in that role on March 1.

Henrik Andersen was named as Hempel’s new CEO on Sept. 9. He will take the reins from Pierre-Yves Julien, who in April announced his plans to step down after 40 years with Hempel, 10 of which he served as CEO.

With Julien retiring as of March 31, Henrik Andersen is slated to assume control by March 1.

Of his new role, Boyer-Søgaard said: “I am thrilled to join Hempel together with Henrik at a point in time where there is a clear mandate from the Board to further grow Hempel organically and through acquisitions to become one of the leading players in the industry.”
