2M-Gallon Tank Lining Job Out for Bid

The Lake Hemet Municipal Water District is seeking SSPC QP1 or QP2 certified contractors interested in the cleaning and relining of the Marshall water storage tank located in Hemet, CA.

The welded steel tank is 40 feet tall by 95 feet in diameter.

Bids are due Dec. 28. A non-mandatory pre-bid meeting was held on Dec. 1.

Scope of Work

The project involves cleaning and relining of the existing 2-million-gallon Marshall water storage tank in addition to performing other miscellaneous repairs. Work includes the preparation and recoating of all interior surfaces of the welded steel tank.

The Lake Hemet Municipal Water District is seeking SSPC QP1 or QP2 certified contractors interested in the cleaning and relining of its Marshall water storage tank.

All surfaces will require abrasive blast cleaning, which will be followed by a fine bristle broom and air clean. Preparation includes drying the tank interior and all surface preparation.

The tank’s interior will be recoated with a three-coat epoxy system. The protective coatings brands specified for the interior include the Carboline CARBOGUARD series, Devoe Coatings' DEVOE series, or Tnemec Company's TNEMEC series. All interior coatings must be from one manufacturer. The existing coatings are Tnemec Pota-Pox 20.

Application of the prime coat will occur immediately following surface preparation.

All sharp edges, bolts, nuts, joints and welds will receive a brush-applied coat prior to application of each complete coating system.

The contractor has the option to remove the top vent to provide greater access to recoat the top of the roof rafters. The vent must be repaired, welded and recoated on the interior and exterior surfaces.

The contractor may elect to use dehumidification equipment as conditions are expected to be cold and high-humidity, though it would be at the contractor’s own expense.
