A children’s hospital under construction in Australia was the latest to receive a color boost as part of PPG Industries Inc.’s charitable-giving program, Colorful Communities.

Launched in May, the Colorful Communities program is designed to provide paint and volunteer workers for renewal initiatives. The program further expands PPG’s investment in communities where the company operates around the world by committing an additional $10 million over 10 years.

PPG volunteers helped children realize their design creations in a mural project in Clayton, Victoria.

The company previously pledged to complete 14 projects in 2015, half have been completed thus far, PPG announced Tuesday (Nov. 3). The projects have been in the U.S., Italy, Poland, Turkey, The Netherlands, South Korea and China.

Mural for Board Fence

For the most recent project, PPG volunteers teamed up with a group of 100 primary school students to paint murals on a board fence surrounding the soon-to-be completed Monash Children’s Hospital in Clayton, Victoria.

The company donated 110 liters of Taubmans Sunproof paint by PPG, brushes, rollers, sun hats and T-shirts for the project. The volunteers also helped students realize their creations by setting up paint stations and mixing colors for them.

The project sought to engage area schools and children. The fence will be moved inside the hospital when construction is complete, PPG said.

“We’ve loved helping the students add their signature, colorful creations to the hoarding around the hospital site,” said Fiona King, PPG retail senior brand manager based in Clayton.
