A 10-story condominium building is taking shape in Montreal without the use of cranes or scaffolding.

That’s right. The unusual building technique is called “Upbrella,” CBC reports, referring to Upbrella Construction Company, the business behind the process.

Crews installed the first floors, roof system and a temporary perimeter wall, and are raising the roof as the construction project progresses, according to project details.

The Rubic, made of concrete and steel, is located on René-Lévesque Blvd.

“This approach is the future for small lots where there is no place to work,” President Joël Larouche told CBC.

Shield for Workers

Moreover, crews say they appreciate the roof shield from Montreal weather.

“The roof offers protection from rain and snow, so you don’t waste time,” a site supervisor told CBC.

The project is slated for a July 1, 2016, completion.
