Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine Coatings group has introduced an insulative acrylic coating for industrial systems that the company says helps eliminate corrosion under insulation (CUI).

The Heat-Flex 3500 helps insulate hot and cold systems and helps to prevent corrosion under insulation, according to Sherwin-Williams.

The Heat-Flex 3500 is designed for personnel protection and mitigating CUI, the company says. It allows hot systems to stay insulated and cool to the touch while helping to prevent burns. It also insulates cold surfaces and prevents condensation on them, according to the company.

Sherwin-Williams says the coating can be applied directly to ambient or hot surfaces up to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. It adds that it will also allow these systems to be removed from CUI inspection protocols.

So does this mean they are dropping their Phenicon line. I was aware that Phenicon did this very thing. Although in my experience applying this coating we couldn't apply it on surfaces that were above 120 degrees. Just Curious...

Hello Franklin, Sherwin-Williams has let us know that they are not discontinuing Phenicon. They added that Heat Flex 3500 is a product that provides insulative and PPE protection, which is not specified for Phenicon.
