Serena Williams might be a California native, but street artists in New York are showing the tennis champion that they love her.

Sponsored by the sports drink Gatorade and called “Serena 21,” the artists “from around the world” painted 21 murals on buildings at the corner of Kent Avenue and Grand Street in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Williamsburg.

One of 21 artists commisioned by Gatorade to paint 21 murals in Brooklyn, NY, works on the tennis champion's street-art tribute.

According to The Huffington Post, the murals were designed by Vault49, a New York-based creative agency. The paintings honor Williams’ 21 Grand Slam championships.

‘Be Like Me’

As part of Gatorade’s campaign, the company also has created a new commercial that tracks footage of Williams’ career from the time she was a small child. The Huffington Post said the ad displays a “stunning” interview with Williams, now 33, when she was a child.

Gatorade has released a new ad celebrating Serena Williams, with footage from the time she was a child and throughout her career.

“I’d like other people to be like me,” said the not-yet tennis champ in the video when asked by a reporter that, if she were a tennis player, who she would want to be like.

Williams won her first U.S. Open and Grand Slam singles titles in 1999, both also displayed in the ad, The Huffington Post reported.

The murals, designed by New York-based Vault49, depict Williams' 21 Grand Slam championships in tennis.

Neither Gatorade nor Vault49 listed the artists who contributed to the murals.

Meanwhile, Williams, who was raised in the Los Angeles suburb of Compton, CA, has been working this week to complete what would be her 22nd Grand Slam championship.

If Williams, 33, wins the U.S. Open this year, she will be the first women's tennis player in 27 years to win a single calendar year Grand Slams and take her number from 21 to 22 championships.

With several wins in the U.S. Open this week, CNN reported that Williams is posed to be the first player to win that competition, Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon in a single calendar year Grand Slam since Steffi Graf did so 27 years ago.
