CLEVELAND--High wind resistance and water tightness are the promise behind The Garland Company's new roofing system.

The R-Mer Shield has an aluminum clip and top rail system that sits above the seam to stand up against high winds and prevent wind uplift. The company says this also allows the roof to be watertight in bad weather.

Garland's R-Mer Shield system is designed to help prevent wind uplift on standing seam roofs.

Garland’s new metal-roof system can be used as a retrofit over existing ply roofs, built-up roofs, modified bitumen roofs and existing metal roofs.

It also has a ½-inch clearance between the aluminum panels and the underlying layer in order to increase the airflow beneath the panels, the company says.

Other benefits of the R-Mer Shield include a heavy-duty one-piece clip design that permits unlimited thermal movement and factory-applied hot melt sealant that is isolated from the clip, the manufacturer added.
