Bids are due June 11 for coating the interior and exterior surfaces of the Gallows Hill Reservoir in Salem, MA.

Work will include abrasive blast cleaning exterior surfaces and appurtenances to a Commercial finish (SSPC-SP 6). The contractor will then apply a three-coat, zinc-epoxy-fluoropolymer urethane system to the tank’s exterior.

The contractor will also replace the tank's two iconic witch logos with newly approved “Still Making History” sail logos using an additional polyurethane coat.

The exterior coatings contain lead; class 1A containment will be required as outlined in SSPC Guide 6.

After the containment support braces are removed, remaining voids and old coatings will be power tool-cleaned (SSPC-SP 3), followed by an application of two spot coats each of epoxy primer and finish paint.

The  interior water chamber will require abrasive blast cleaning to a Commercial finish (SSPC-SP 6) to expose repairs.

Once repairs have been made, interior surfaces will be abrasive blast-cleaned to a Near-White finish (SSPC-SP 10), then receive a high performance zinc-epoxy system. Heavily pitted surfaces will require an epoxy pit filler and surfacer.
