New environmentally friendly, high-performance powder, liquid and e-coat coatings for a variety of industrial and commercial applications are rolling out at PPG Industries.
The lineup consists of high-transfer-efficiency Envirocron HTE powder coating, low-VOC Performaloc 9000 for OEM applications, and REACH-compliant Powercron AdvantEdge.
Envirocron HTE
This high-transfer-efficiency, bisphenol A-free powder coating is engineered for appliance, architectural, wire goods and extrusion applications. According to PPG, the product is formulated with a unique cross-link polymer that provides faster application build rates, less material waste, and more uniform coverage on complex surfaces.

PPG's Envirocron HTE is the newest addition to the architectural powder coating family that also includes Envirocron 04 (pictured).

The industrial coating is available in a wide range of colors and glosses and in standard and ultra-durable formulations. PPG says the product can achieve first-pass transfer rates of 85 percent or better and cures in 10 minutes at 350 degrees F.
PPG recommends Envirocron HTE for product assemblies and parts with recessed cavities; odd shapes; open, uneven or geometrically complex surfaces; and for spray-to-waste applicators who want to reduce product loss.
Powercron AdvantEdge
These electrocoats incorporate metal-free catalyst technology to help manufacturers comply with the EU's REACH (Registration, Evaluation and Authorization of Chemical Substances) and other environmental regulations.
 |
AdvantEdge joins Powercron's 6100 (pictured) and others in the elctorcoat line for military, heavy equipment, automotive and other applications.
|
The product can reduce energy costs by curing at lower temperatures, according to PPG. The company also touts the coating's edge corrosion resistance, simpler feed package and uniform film builds on complex parts.
Performaloc 9000
This new category of cross-linked coatings formulated from low-VOC resins designed to cure fast and hard, eliminating the need for baking or force-drying of metal parts.
These liquid-applied coatings are designed for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) that coat metal parts used in agricultural equipment, locomotives and railcars, outdoor furniture, light poles, exterior electrical cabinets and hardware, trailers and shipping containers.
 |
Performaloc 9000 is designed to cure fast, eliminating the need for forced drying.
|
PPG will roll out the three coatings March 18-19 at the 2015 Minnesota Paint & Powder Coating Expo in White Bear Lake.
