Nilfisk CFM has introduced a pneumatic industrial vacuum cleaner for the tens of thousands of facilities that face dangerous accumulations of combustible dust.

The A15DX model is suitable for use in Class II, Division 2, Groups F and G as well as non-hazardous, non-classified environments.

The A15DX is designed for dry dust and debris.

The 68-pound unit is manufactured in accordance with the latest National Fire Protection Association guidelines for collection of combustible dust, according to Nilfisk CFM.

NFPA, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and other organizations recommend the use of properly equipped industrial vacuum cleaners as part of maintenance regimens to decrease the risk for a combustible dust fire/explosion.

OSHA notes that a wide variety of materials can be explosible in dust form. These include sugar, flour, grain and other foods; plastics; wood; dyes; and metals.

Fully bonded and grounded, Nilfisk's A15DX is powered by compressed air with no moving parts to wear and create a spark, the manufacturer says.

The unit also features:

  • A 50-liter stainless steel spark resistant container;
  • Non-sparking conductive hoses and accessories;
  • Antistatic polyester star main filter that traps 99.7 percent of dust particles down to 1.5 microns;
  • An external filter shaker feature to enable easy clean up; and
  • An optional upstream HEPA filtration to capture 99.97 percent of combustible particles, down to and including 0.3 microns.

Based in Morgantown, PA, Nilfisk Industrial Vacuum Division (also known as Nilfisk-Advance America Inc.) is one of the largest providers of cleaning equipment in North America.
