Two new masonry-related certification programs and an online university are now available from the American Concrete Institute.
The Masonry Field Testing Technician and Masonry Laboratory Testing Technician programs provide certification to technicians working in the laboratory or in the field who can demonstrate technical knowledge and skills for sampling and testing masonry units, mortars, grout and prisms.

“Developing these programs filled an important need within the testing and inspection community,” said Chris Robinson, chair of ACI Committee C670, Masonry Technician Certification.
The new programs are based on content from ASTM specifications.

In addition to the certifications, the institute announced the launch of the ACI University.
The online learning portal provides on-demand access to a wide range of topics on concrete materials, design and construction. The content is designed for professionals from testing technicians to practicing engineers, according to ACI.
ACI University allows immediate access to:
-
Courses covering ACI’s technical documents;
-
Preparation for ACI certifications;
-
Webinars on a variety of concrete-related topics; and
-
Study programs on concrete design requirements.
Certificate programs on "Concrete Fundamentals" and "Anchorage to Concrete" are currently available, and additional topics will be added, reports ACI.
Founded in 1904 and headquartered in Farmington Hills, MI, ACI is a member-based technical organization with 20,000 members worldwide.
