One of the world's tallest bridges has just hosted a competition that most people would rather die than enter: seeing who could jump off of it the best.

The competition Sept. 20 drew 35 daredevils from 16 countries.

At over 1,200 feet high, China's Balinghe Bridge (also spelled Baling) in Anshun City, Guizhou Province, was the location for an international BASE jumping challenge.

This YouTube video, posted by NTDTV, shows a few of the acrobatic moves the jumpers performed.

The bridge is one of the world's tallest and the highest bridge ever to host a BASE jumping event, according to

Acrobatic Free-Falling

BASE jumping is an extreme sport in which participants jump from a fixed object, free-fall for a little bit, and then pull a parachute. According to, BASE stands for the four fixed objects from which one can jump: Building, Antennae, Span, Earth.

At the event in China, jumpers had to impress judges with creative acrobatic moves as they fell. Judges graded the participants on skill and creativity. Unfortunately, Chinese media did not announce the winner of the event.
