1-Part Protective Clear Coat Revamped

NEI Corp. has reformulated its Nanomyte TC-5001 nanocoating, designed to improve the corrosion resistance of zinc-plated and hot-dip galvanized steel under severe environmental and operating conditions.

When applied by dipping, brushing or spraying, Nanomyte TC-5001 can be used to protect electrical grid structures, street lights, lattice beams and other outdoor structures; rods, pipes, bolts and other hardware; automotive components; and farming equipment.

NEI says the dense barrier coating can be used as a standalone, or in combination with Nanomyte PT-100, the company's self-healing conversion coating.

Salt Spray Testing

According to NEI, uncoated zinc-plated steel bolts exhibit white rust in 24 hours and red rust after 168 hours in salt-spray tests (SST, ASTM B117).

The Nanomyte coating "provided significant corrosion protection, even after 504 hours of SST," the company said.

"Typically, TC-5001-coated parts show no white rust even after 1,000 hours and no red rust even after 1,200 hours," according to NEI.

Nanomyte TC-5001 is part of NEI's expanding portfolio of anti-corrosion coating systems, including pretreatments and topcoats that protect steel, aluminum and magnesium from corrosion.
