Fire Requirements for Foam Plastic Insulation and WRBs in Exterior Walls
Building codes are established to provide life safety to the building occupants, and fire protection is a significant aspect of the codes. Building codes have requirements for water-resistive barriers, air barriers and continuous insulation. NFPA 285 is one of the most recognized fire tests for designers to consider for non-combustible construction which is typically steel frame, concrete, or masonry, but there are several others that are applicable as well.
