Writing a Clear Coating Spec for Wastewater Facilities
by Jim Machen, KTA-Tator, Inc.
Because of the various waste streams that may be entering a waste water treatment facility, there may be multiple service environments to which a coating or lining system may be exposed. Exposures include atmospheric, gaseous/vapor phase, and immersion. In addition, there are often multiple substrate types that require protection for each of the exposures. Coating specifications for these facilities should identify the limits of the work, the surface preparation of the various substrate types, the coating or lining system to be applied, the quality control and quality assurance tests and inspections to be performed and identification of the party performing the tests. Furthermore, all of the inspections must be presented in a clear, concise and user-friendly format. This webinar walks the specification writer through the steps that result in the development of an effective coating specification.
