The Obituary

A frugal woman goes into the local newspaper office to order an obituary for her recently deceased husband. The editor informs her that there is a charge of $5 per word.

She pauses, reflects, and then says, "Well then, just let it read 'Fred Brown died.'"

The editor sympathetically informs her that there is a seven-word minimum for all obituaries.

The woman ponders once again and then says, "Okay, in that case let it read, 'Fred Brown died: Golf clubs for sale.'"
