Texas Proud

An Australian engineer was taking a visiting Texas engineer on a tour of Sydney's larger works.

First, the Australian showed the visitor the Gladesville Bridge.

"How long and how many men did it take to build?" the Texan asked.

"About five years with 1,000 men," the host replied.

"Well, in Texas, we would've done it in two years with 500 men."

Next up was the Sydney Opera House.

Again, the question came: How long and how many men to build it?

"About 10 years with 200 men," the Australian responded.

"Hmph," sniffed the Texan. "In Texas, we would've done it in four years with 200 men."

By now, the Australian had had it with the Texan's attitude. Rounding the opera house, they came upon the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

"Wow, what's that?" the Texan asked.

The Australian said mildly, "I don't know. It wasn't there yesterday."
