Three Travelers

An American, a Russian and an Egyptian were circling the globe in a hot-air balloon.

One day, the Russian put out his hand and reached into the clouds.

“Ah,” he said. “We’re right over my homeland.”

“How can you tell?” asked the American.

“I can feel the cold air,” the Russian said.

A few days later, the Egyptian reached into the clouds.

“Ah,” he said. “We’re right over my homeland!”

“How do you know?” asked the Russian.

“I can feel the heat of the desert,” the Egyptian replied.

A few days later, the American reached through the clouds.

“Aha!” he said. “We’re right over New York!”

The Russian and the Egyptian were amazed.

“How do you know that?” they asked.

The American pulled in his hand and held it up.

“My watch is missing.”
