Product Update: Removing Silica Dust with Dustless Lid

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 29, 2022

Due to health and safety concerns in the coatings industry, Quikspray Inc. has updated its U-Blend Mixer, offering a dustless lid option. Crystalline silica is a common element found on the construction jobsite and, if inhaled into the lungs, can cause silicosis or other harmful health problems. Personal protective equipment (PPE), such as face respirator masks, is used to protect workers from airborne hazardous materials, including the dust form of crystalline silica, found in grout, sand, cement, concrete, mortar, rocks and stone.

The dustless U-Blend Mixer lid adds an extra layer of protection to workers who are around silica dust. In addition, says the manufacturer, the lid helps minimize contaminants in sensitive environments. A vacuum port can be added to further eliminate dust.

The U-Blend Mixers are capable of mixing epoxy grouts and heavily bodied materials, re-grouting mortar joints and spraying fireproofing, waterproofing, EIFS, artificial rock work, stucco and other commercial coatings. Equipment is available in electric, pneumatic and hydraulic.
