SUMMARY

The Tank Coordinator is primarily responsible for coordinating the planning & execution of program related work scopes. This includes working with the appropriate contractors and refinery departments to ensure the scope is completed safely, on schedule, within the approved budget, and with high quality.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Safety – ensure work force follows site safety practices and policies Environmental stewardship.
  • Develop tank work scopes to encompass approved capital scopes (mechanical, painting and cleaning).
  • Develop 5-year tank cleaning and repair budget, with project controls integration
  • Develop and maintain 25-year tank cleaning and repair schedule.
  • Lead the development of the “Plan of the Plan” for the assigned tank project.
  • Develop P6 schedule for each tank with buy in from stakeholders.
  • Track and control (MM) tank budget, ensuring that the tank program meets the budget expectations with project controls collaboration.
  • Understand historical spend of the tank program and apply to future program years.
  • Develop contracting strategies for work disciplines (mechanical, cleaning and painting), in collaboration with procurement.
  • Develop and manage the manpower & equipment plans for assigned tank project against the baseline plan.
  • Coordinate all field work, update schedule progress in Syntempo.
  • Identify all long lead items, order all material with enough lead time to ensure receipt on site without expediting.
  • Coordinate with Engineering all capital work associated with tank projects.
  • Key role is to coordinate the entire tank project and remove barriers to stay on schedule and achieve project on or ahead of budget expectations.
  • Ensure all schedule & cost deviations are captured on the control estimate change log and in conjunction with the project controls team.
  • Attend Contractor Tool Box Meetings and promote a safety culture.
  • Attend the monthly MPC Safety Maintenance Meeting.
  • On a daily basis, inspect the Jobsite for safety issues and take action to correct any discovered issues.
  • Participate in and Ensure joint job site visits are occurring.
  • Ensure compliance with Environmental best practices including lead abatement, asbestos abatement, soil management, and air permitting.
  • Inspect job scopes to ensure Good Craftsmanship is being utilized.
  • Complete the appropriate QA/QC documentation for each project.
  • Inspect job scopes to ensure jobs are constructed to governing specifications.
  • Coordinate the field execution of Expense, Capital, or Program work scopes in a safe, high quality, and productive manner.
  • Ensure efficient utilization of all contractors on the assigned projects including schedule and budget compliance.
  • Ensure all contractors and MPC employees are adhering to all applicable codes and standards.
  • Communicate the scope of work that will be performed to the Operations and other associated departments.
  • Communicate look-a-head work with Operations representatives.
  • Communicate needed inspections with Inspection representatives.
  • Communicate Equipment, Scaffolding, and craft support requirements.
  • Provide technical troubleshooting for job scope as required.
  • Work closely with inspection and contractors to develop/understand repair plans as required.

REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum high school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience as Mechanical construction or maintenance supervisor, foreman or planner in petrochemical industry preferred.
  • Knowledge and/or Certifications in API 653 (or acquire within two years of position acceptance).

KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of welding, sandblasting, coating, inspection practices and applications, material specifications, estimating methodology.
  • Working knowledge of Primavera (P6)
  • MS Suite – Excel, Outlook, Work
  • CMMS (SAP) – Preferred
  • Ability to read & interpret P&ID’s and construction drawings
  • Knowledge of E/I components associated with Tanks
