Position Summary

The Mold Maker will use creativity, flair and expression to support the design and manufacture of opencast molds using cast urethane rubber which are used in the decorative concrete industry.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

As a Mold-maker you will create, adjust, and adapt molds working with specifications to create these and where required making adjustments to existing molds and parts to meet the specification requirements.

Daily duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Design and make new custom molds
  • Reproduce existing mold designs
  • Maintain records and track mold making supplies, reordering when necessary- supplies include wood, nails, screws, epoxies.
  • Craft and cut wood to build crates for large design orders or tradeshow freight.
  • Operate equipment in line with company policies
  • Clean equipment and ensure it remains in good working order by performing daily safety checks on features - this applies to all tools and equipment such as: saws, drills, sand, and routers.
  • Assist tool maker with pouring tools and packing orders when needed.
  • Support teamwork in the department and maintain clean, organized work environment.
  • Assist in the quoting of new custom molds
  • Perform cycle counting as and when required
  • Make straps and silicone logo to fill rubber stamp tools.
  • Maintain quality control of rubber stamping tools.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Education & Experience?

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree.
  • Three months related experience with open cast mold making and/or wood work.
  • OR a combination of equivalent education/experience.

  • Language & Communication skills:Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Mathematical skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Problem Solving/ Reasoning skills:Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Teamwork:ability to work with others toward a shared goal, participating actively, sharing responsibility and rewards and contributing to the capability of the team.

Physical Demands:

  • Standing over 2/3rd of time
  • Walking under 1/3rd of time
  • Use of hands to finger, handle or feel between 1/3rd -2/3rds of time.
  • Talking and Listening up to 1/3rd of time
  • Lifting up to 10 pounds between 1/3rd - 2/3rds time
  • Lifting up to 25 pounds under 1/3rd of time
  • ?Close vision (clear vision required of 20 inches or less)
