A recent makeover for a hotel in St. Petersburg, Russia, features a paint job worth a Guinness World Record, officials say.

Karelia Business Hotel in St. Petersburg, Russia, is adorned with the "World's Largest 3D Painting," according to officials.

A 168,800-square-foot 3D mural is painted on the façade of the Karelia Business Hotel. Guinness Record officials have crowned the work the “World’s Largest 3D Painting.”
Local artists painted the building to look like a giant suitcase using more than 10,000 liters (about 2,641 gallons) of paint, according to an announcement on the achievement.
“We had a lot of ideas for how to transform our facade,” the hotel’s Commercial Director, NV Ovechkina, said in a statement.
“We tried images of a yellow submarine, an accordion, and books, among many others. But then we came across the idea of a suitcase, which clearly corresponds with tourism and trips.”
The project aimed to promote mural art and to strengthen the cultural status of the city of St. Petersburg.
