The ultimate or universal field-joint coating does not exist, but there are many varied and well-proven technologies currently available, all of which have their strengths and weaknesses. If the long-term, in-service performance of prospective field-joint coatings is to be predicted with an acceptable level of confidence, do currently available standards come to the rescue?
