The authors summarize several advances in bridge coating systems made mainly over the past 15 years. Conventional three-coat systems for bridges are described, as are relatively recent advances in two-coat technology for rapid recoating, polyaspartic-polyurethane topcoats, polysiloxane topcoats, and a high-ratio calcium sulfonate alkyd system.
