My research shows SW 2020 sales at 18.3 billion. PPG 2020 sales at 13.8. Help me understand how PPG is listed as #1.

You have to remember that Sherwin sells a lot of paint at the retail level. The same gallon of paint that is valued at say $1/gallon at the wholesale level might be $20/gal at the retail level. Plus Sherwin stores sell a lot of accessories like spray guns, ladders, etc. which add to its total sales. PPG also has stores, but not as many.
