By Sang-Moon Shin, Chung-Seo Park, Seung-Gon Choo, Eun-Ha Song and Han-Jin Bae, Hyundai Heavy Industries

According to the international surface prepa-ration standard for welds, preparation grades before paint application are divided into three levels. Comment from Sasha A. Bacic , (8/7/2018, 2:10 AM)

I'm very, very pleased to learn about efforts in HHI undertaking to increase the anticorrosive protection in general and welds in particular! Since first time in Ulsan shipyard, supervising two double hull VLCC in 1993-95 and an FPSO building in 2003-04, many things has improved: when stripe coating of edges and welds was impossible to obtain in 1993, it was an normal procedure ten years latter. To the merit of HHI to add the mechanical rounding the edges on all plates in critical areas. In 25 years attitudes and practices regarding anticorrosive protection has changed to the best. Felicitation HHI!
