Great article...

I think the future of cool roof coatings also includes the substitution of ground silica or calcium carbonate with recycled ground glass fillers that are crystalline silica free and don't supply a food source to algae and mold.

If a micro-cell doesn't conduct heat, why do you need a handle on a ceramic coffee cup?

Comment from Douglas Pearce, (9/29/2017, 3:03 PM)

Michael McGuinness because the coffee cup is not made of micro-cells. It is made from solid ceramic which is also not very conductive but not to the same extent. This is why the side of the cup is hotter than the handle. When you read Micro-cell think thermos. Very hot inside. Not very hot outside.

The handle on ceramic coffee cups isn't there for holding it like a tea cup. It's there to keep you from burning your hand with drips and spillover when filling it. Old coffee mugs didn't have a handle at all.
