Great article. I see a lot of loss of production and feild problems using plural gear is and can be attributed to lack of training with the gear that is going to be used for the application. I was the super on a tank interior project and my applicator was really only given a 15 minute crash course in its operation then along with 35 deg temps we had nothing but problems. You would have thought the PM would have assured more training was provided or used a seasoned journeyman plural pump applicator. But as always this is what happens when your not properly prepared and have a knee jerk reaction just scrambling to man up a job.The end result was the customer thought our company was lacking in technical know how. And to some extent this was true.

Caleb- excellent article. Despite years of plural component spraying myself- it was all with the old fixed-ratio pumps- very rudimentary in comparison to today's available technology. To be sure, todays EVR pumps, regardless of the manufacturer, are complex pieces of machinery deserving of the investment in training for proper usage. The quick run- through that Chuck describes is, unfortunately, all too common. Without proper training, even the most sophisticated, capable machines are nothing more than scrap metal..
