This standard covers pressure class 150 polyvinyl chloride (PVC) injection-molded fittings with push-on rubber gasketed joints in nominal sizes 4 in., 6 in., and 8 in. The fittings are for use with PVC water distribution pipe having an outside diameter conforming to the dimensions of cast-iron pipe, and with dimension ratios of 18 or 25 as described in ANSI/AWWA C900, Standard for Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) Pressure Pipe, 4 In. Through 12 In., for Water Distribution. Further design considerations are provided for guidance when the fittings will be used with PVC pressure pipes other than Class 150 and Class 100. Topics covered include: materials; fitting requirements; testing; pressure class of fittings; compatible application criteria; pressure class derating factors; and information of general interest to users of injection-molded PVC fittings (construction, safety factors, and causes of failure and their prevention).
