What kind of initial treatment is the best defense against graffiti for rough-surfaced concrete block (CMU)?

If it is not important to maintain the natural appearance of the masonry then a heavy duty block filler may be used to create a relatively smooth surface which can then be coated with a number of anti-graffiti coating systems on the market. If keeping the appearance of the natural masonry is desired, then the direct application of one of the newly developed nanoparticulate-based anti-graffiti coating systems can be used. These systems seal and leave an anti-stick and release coating surface that does not allow paint, coatings, stickers or adhesives to adhere to the coating film. Graffiti can be removed with a dry cloth or light pressure washing.
