They only reason I vote is for local seats and ballots. If it wasn’t for that I wouldn’t vote. What’s the point? By the time I Vote (west Coast) they have already announced a winner. We need to get rid of the electoral vote and go to a popular vote.

Agreed!... Unfortunately, that wouldn't have helped us in this last election. Looks to me like 50% of the population needs their head examined. Furthermore, how in the HELL did Obama get 50.55% of the popular vote, but received 61.7% of the electoral votes? This is definitely a major flaw in the system. The problem is, not enough of us will stand together and MAKE this "government" change things!

So true. Also how can anyone get 100% of the vote in certain voting districts??? Unless of course they aren’t running against anyone.

Jeremi- If you think it's a flaw in the system now, did you feel the same 12 years ago, when George Bush lost the popular vote in 2000?

I dont know about Jeremi but I have never like the electoral college vote system. On the west coast you might as well not even vote. By the time you get to the polls they have already announced a winner because they have already won 270 of the electoral votes

How do you think Republicans in NY feel? The electoral college negates their vote in all National Elections. Might as well not vote. If electoral votes were allowed to be split by each State based upon the percentages of the popular voting, then it would be far more representative. Perhaps not perfect, but better. Right now, it is "the majority takes all."

They should open the pols three hours earlier and close three hours earlier on the west coast. Thats what they get for living there.

Karen, What about Democrats in Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Wyoming, Arizona, Mississippi, Alabama, etc.?

John - Yes. I sure did. I thought there was some "Brotherly Love" going on in FL. Arthur - I think it was actually 108% as funny as that sounds.

John, the same thing happens to Democrats in these states. My point was, the minority (Repubulicans or Democrats) in any given state have their vote nullified by the electoral college.
