This law, and many like it in NYS, directly influence the decisions by many companies to NOT move to NYS. The cost of doing business, as well as passing that cost onto consumers and owners is the end result. The only winners are personal injury attorneys and insurance companies. Employers should accept responsibility to train workers and provide the necessary PPE, and most do, but the employee must also accept responsibility to work safely and USE the training and PPE provided.

I think managers need to get more involved in field activities and observe the safety practices of the workers. If workers are not being safe on the job it is the power of the manager that allows this. Since upper management does not respond to safety for the benifit of the worker then something must be done for upper management to respond. In this case its holding them 100% liable. But at the end of the day workers need to carry out the consistency of being safe so everyone needs to share responsibilities. I think that the disciplinary policies need to be more rigid and its upper management to carry out the policy. It seems like workers wont care about safety unless management shows they care too.
