I believe that the vast majority of protesters in this movement don't truly understand the issues. They are just followers looking for some cause to take up. It appears that most of the participants are too young to fully understand the economic trouble facing the country or are people whos lives are on the fringes of the effects of corporate actions. While all of us are affected in the long run to some degree by the economic crisises in America, I think that overall, middle-class America is doing OK.

Okay, where’s option 4: “Stupid. Wall Street isn’t the problem. Bloated and /or corrupt Government is the problem.”? To the one’s who started “OW”: I’m sorry you’re college degree didn’t get you that executive position you were promised the day you graduated and now you have to pay back your loans, but some of us started out at the bottom and worked our way up, all the while paying our own way along the way, including for any and all education we received. Life’s not fair and no, just because you’re born, you do not automatically receive a “$20 per hour living wage, whether you are working or not”. I have empathy for the returning soldiers who can’t find work. If I was still contracting that would be the pool of talent I would pull from for an apprenticeship/ journeyman program in a minute! I’ve always had luck with vets. I do feel that the system is corrupted. Just look at the insider trading congress (both side, both parties) is getting by with. Look at the crony capitalism (think “Solyndra”) that’s being played out, where the Government, not the free market, is trying to pick who should prosper and what technologies should shape the future. And for the biggest one, look at the Fannie/Freddie mess where Government officials threatened lending institutions to stop “red lining”, a practice that proved to be part of a prudent loan approval process, or face their wrath. Then when everything “went to hell in a hand-basket”, as any competent business person could have told you would happen, what do the elected officials do? They blame the banks in the press and take no blame themselves. Look at all that, and the many other intrusion in to the capitalist system done by our Government over the last 25 years in the name of “leveling the playing field” or for whatever cause get a candidate a permanent position of power, then can you honestly say it’s “Capitalism that’s at fault”? I can’t.

Very good and timely topic, it makes this section more interesting. If anything, the Occupy Movement has made us talk about issues that no one talked about for 40 years: corporate greed, the demise of small industry, the unfair tax system that allows big corporation to legally evade taxes and the general decline of the standard of living [one third of children lives in poverty, 45 million people with no access to health] Free enterprise died a long time ago when corporation become monopoly entities. Monopoly - disguised in several ways - exist in the media, manufacturing and services industries, whereby a handful of corporations and interest control the entire productive process, effectively displacing small and independent initiatives. Monopoly capital employs an army of accountants, lawyers, psychologists, politicians and lobbyists to pervert democracy, destroy small industry and circumvent the law , thus, creating their own little Kingdom. to which none of us can enter. When their financial orgies and immoral scams go wrong they become “Socialist”, seeking the backing of the government to provide them with taxpayer’s money. They do not manipulate the government: they ARE the unelected government.
