Coatings, corrosion control and other stuctural preservation techniques should be included as seperate course material for Civil Engineering Students.

This is the mantra many of us use because there are so few who actually planned to 'do paint' with their career. Who of us had the vision to get into the paint industry? Most just drifted into it and stayed... or got 'stuck' there. That is why so many of the great formulators, tech. serv. people, etc. are those who didn't finish school, have Biology or some other degrees, or were those young chemists who took a paint job only temporarily but stayed forever.
Better pay would be nice and help once someone gets to 'paint' and many companies do subsidize their employees education.
Chemists, Chem. Engineers, etc. don't know about paint and corrosion control except incidentally so more aggressive and creative recruiting would be more helpful to put paint on the map so some younger people could develope the 'vision' to get into paint at least somewhat like those who have the vision for law school, the medical field, acting, school teaching, etc.
If you're like me, you can't even count each finger on your hands with names of schools with a paint-related program out of the thousands in the country.
